With the support of First Campus, students and staff from Cardiff Metropolitan University are continuing to aspire Year 7 pupils at CWCHS in creative education workshops throughout the academic year as part of The Creative Education Partnership.
This academic year the school has embarked on an AMBITION Project for Year 7 pupils. Once a fortnight (Friday morning) the Year 7 pupils are taken off timetable to engage in creative education. They have been split into groups and will have the opportunity to complete a project in three of the following themes:
Pupils rotate groups each term and have a Showcase event at the end of term.
Last term Hayley Feehan, Cardiff Met graduate and Widening Access Tutor supported the Dance workshops, whist Cardiff Met Fine Art student, Heledd Evans supported the art workshops. Both groups benefitted from the additional skills that the Cardiff Met team are able to offer as well as enabling pupils to build relationships with current HE staff and students.
This term, Cardiff Met are once again supporting workshops in Art & Dance and are also supporting the Humanities and Food workshops. The school has placed a big emphasis on waste and the school environment; consequently this is being focused upon within the projects. The project outcomes will be showcased to families and the community on Monday 19th March.
