The Year 9 Residential project is an annual event that sees pupils from schools across South East Wales visit a University campus for a immersive experience over 3 days that aims to raise their future educational aspirations through a mix of information, advice and guidance sessions as well as a hands on experience of life as an undergraduate student.
The project participants have the choice to study one of a range of courses from across the First Campus Partnership institutions. Previous subject’s areas have included Biomedical Science, Fashion Design, Hospitality and Events, and Sport Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University, English at Cardiff University and Engineering and Cyber Security at University of South Wales.
As well as studying their chosen course participants also have the opportunity to experience an undergraduate student night life with activities in the student union and living in the halls of residence with their peers.
The project ends with a Graduation ceremony to celebrate the participant’s achievements with their friends and family.
