The Confident Futures programme is designed to raise aspirations and promote opportunities for young people in, or leaving, care. It is also open to estranged students. There are three elements to the programme:
- Confident Futures Project: a fortnightly mentoring project, which aims to promote the benefits of higher education through a variety of interactive sessions.
- Confident Futures Summer School: a two-day, one night summer school. The programme is designed to provide an insight into both the academic and social aspects of university life, and help students with experience of being in care to make an informed decision about their future.
- Individual Pathway Planning: we offer all students on the Confident Futures programme the opportunity to meet with staff to discuss future goals and aspirations. We provide tailored information, advice and guidance to help students transition to university.
The University also has a designated contact for care leavers and estranged students who offers support from application stage, including advice on accessing appropriate financial support.
