The First Campus Mentoring Programme has been placing university students, as mentors, in key partnership Communities First Schools across SE Wales since 2003.
This generic mentoring programme, aims to support pupils to face their current educational challenges and plan for the future. Mentors visit pupils in the selected schools working with them on a regular one-to-one basis, addressing their individual learning and aspiration needs.
Mentors offer support and advice by acting as role models; they raise pupil’s awareness of the opportunities which higher education will offer them and help them recognise that access to higher education is possible and achievable.
First Campus staff support mentors throughout their time on the scheme; helping student mentors gain knowledge, skills and attributes that will contribute to their future career pathway.
First Campus has reached full capacity for academic year 2017/18 and will be working with four schools in the Cardiff area.
If you are interested in bringing Mentoring to your school for 2018/19, please register* your interest.
*Registering your interest will result in a call back from a member of First Campus staff to discuss your schools’ eligibility.
