Hay Festival is back on the road, thanks to Welsh Government funding, bringing the Scribblers Tour to school children across Wales. The tour will be hosted in five Welsh Universities which includes the University of South Wales and Cardiff Metropolitan University, supported by First Campus.

We will be telling stories, asking questions and inspiring empathy and creativity through the power of writing.

Feedback from 2019 Tour:

Teacher’s Feedback:

“The Scribblers Tour moulds creativity and provides opportunities and ideas for how to access writing outside of school.”

Teacher, Cardiff West Community High School

“The Scribblers Tour got pupils excited about writing and reading and in their ability to do so…we love Scribblers!”

St Illtyd’s Catholic High School

Pupil’s Feedback:

“I enjoyed listening to Alex Wheatle’s life story, it is inspiring to know that he could achieve anything, no matter where he came from.”

Today was emotional, motivational and inspiring”

“I had a lot of fun learning about other people’s experiences and it has influenced me to write more.”

A full programme will be released November 4th.

To register your interest in attending one of the Scribblers Tour events, please click on the appropriate button below.

A member of the First Campus team will respond to you.

Schools are able to initially book 15 pupil places (plus an accompanying teacher) per age group.

Due to funding remits First Campus ask schools to ensure that the pupils that are selected to attend First Campus activities meet our eligibility criteria.

The criteria is as follows:

  • Learners who reside in a WIMD 40 postcode area (this is based on the learner’s home address not on the school address);
  • Looked After Children
  • Young Carers

If you need any information on the postcode criteria please contact us.

In previous years schools have been able to apply for funding towards transport costs to the Scribblers Tour from the Arts Council of Wales ‘Go and See’ fund, which refunds up to 90% of transport costs. Applications for funding need to be submitted at least 4 weeks in advance of the event. Please apply via the Arts Council of Wales website:
