This project has been specially developed for Willows High School by First Campus and the Widening Access team at Cardiff Metropolitan University to support the high numbers of Refugee and Asylum Seekers who have joined the school and who need to develop their English language skills.
The sessions are split equally between language skills and sport skills.
The language session provides an opportunity for participants to practice their language skills, particularly writing and reading in a non-curriculum environment, speaking skills can then be used in the sport session to communicate with peers in a range of team sports.
Once a term pupils will be invited to attend a campus visit at Cardiff Metropolitan University to introduce some of the sport study pathways available within HE.
