Project Description
This event will give KS3 participants a chance to discover STEM opportunities within a university environment. This workshops programme has been designed as a carousel, accommodating 60 participants per day in groups of 20. Each group will access three 55 minute workshops and they will also experience lunch on campus, paid for by First Campus.
Transport to and from the event will be arranged and paid for by First Campus.The carousel will be repeated daily (9th July to 13th July) creating an opportunity for 300 participants to Discover STEM in HE.
WORKSHOPS
Mathematics – Participants will engage in an online game that draws on different areas of mathematics, showing them how mathematics is used in everyday life.
Biology – Participants will be involved in DNA isolation, using a combination of physical and chemical methods allowing participants to visualise the DNA.
Chemistry – Participants will use chemistry to create perfume testers and soap.
