AI Camp

Project Description

Technocamps, in collaboration with First Campus and the University of South Wales will be hosting a 3 day, 2 night (16th to 18th July) residential for Year 12 pupils from across South East Wales.

The event is aimed at students with an interest in Computing, Computer science and ICT, and will be looking at Artificial Intelligence.

Participants will attend a variety of workshops and activities all focused on different aspects of Artificial Intelligence, from ethics to the practicalities of programming robots. Participants will be expected to take part in all activities, work with students from other schools and colleges, and deliver a presentation at the end of the event.

Participants will be accommodated in the official USW Halls of Residence at the Treforest Campus, and as well as attending academic lectures and workshops they will also take part in campus based evening entertainment, giving students a realistic taste of life on campus. They will attend an information session ‘An introduction to higher education’ from the USW recruitment team and will have an opportunity to access campus facilities including computer labs, library, catering facilities, lecture theatres and halls of residence, and the opportunity to work alongside USW students and academics.

This event is provided FREE of charge to all participants, thanks to a grant from the Artificial Intelligence Journal Division of the International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence. All accommodation and food will be provided, pupils will be allowed to purchase additional drinks and snacks with their own money, but this is not required.
