Year 9 pupils from Cardiff West Community High School took time out of half term to visit the fashion department who were preparing for a catwalk show that evening.
The pupils are embarking on a fashion project, which will see them design and make a bomber jacket, as well as, put on a catwalk fashion show at USW, Atrium Campus. The visit to Atrium fell within Cardiff Fashion Week and show cased the work of the undergraduate fashion students. The pupils had a tour of the campus with Mark Jackson and Steven Wright and were given an introduction to their fashion project brief. They also had an opportunity to meet Ellen, Anna and Liz who will be involved in the delivery of the project at Cardiff West Community High school over the next 12 weeks.
Liz Bailey, First Campus Coordinator said ‘the project will give the young people an insight into the world of fashion as they experience all the areas required for a catwalk show; from designing and making the garment, to advertising, modelling, photography and film for the fashion show. Friends and family will be invited to the University for this Element and we want the young people to have a real sense of pride and achievement in what they have done.’
