Year 11 pupils from Pontypridd High School attended Treforest Campus for an English Literature Revision Programme at the end of November/beginning of December. The purpose of the programme was to explore memory and revision skills, as well as focusing on the text ‘Of Mice and Men.’ The pupils worked with Lyn Howell on the first day, who gave an overview of learning styles and explored the different ways of revising that might help, including the use of colour, image association and using a journey. On the second day, the pupils worked with Georgina Harris of Tin Shed Theatre Co. A graduate from the former University of Wales, Newport, Georgina took the young people through a range of workshops exploring the themes and characters in Of Mice and Men.
Liz Bailey from First Campus said ‘these were two very different days, both covering very important areas of revision. It was pleasing to see that the group remembered the journey that Lyn had covered which included nine of the themes of the text, associating them with focal points on their journey to school.”
