Eighty-five year 9 pupils from Lliswerry, Llanwern and Brynmawr Schools visited Upper Glyntaf Campus on 28th March for the Chemistry at Work event. The pupils took part in three different workshops: a lab based activity checking the freshness of vegetables with thin layer chromatography, 3D Chemistry and Fluorescence & DNA activity.
At the start of the event, Dr Suzy Keane of USW gave an inspiring talk about the types of careers (and associated salaries) Chemistry graduates could have. Suzy highlighted the number of firms locally where there are opportunities for Chemistry graduates.
Lliswerry High School said, “Thank you so much for inviting us to the Chemistry at Work day, we all enjoyed ourselves and many found the whole experience inspiring.”
