Science meets the MTV generation in rap competition

The Hands on Science project recently launched its first Rap Science Competition at the University of Glamorgan’s Students’ Union.   The competition is open to young people rap_science_jan2011between the ages of 7 and 16, challenging then to write a rap or song about Physics, and then to record a video of them performing it.

The launch featured performances from former University of Glamorgan student and BBC 'Space Hoppers’ presenter Jon Chase, well known for his Astrobiology raps, as well as Jonny Berliner.   The picture shows Jon Chase with some talented rap artists from Maerdy Primary School.

The competition is being run in conjunction with SciCast (www.planet-scicast.com) and is being sponsored by the Science Photo Library (www.sciencephoto.com).
