Pillgwenlly Carnival Fashion Project |
First Campus has been working within the Pill community to help design costumes for the annual Pillgwenlly Carnival. The students worked with the group to make the costumes in time for the carnival on August Bank Holiday Monday. The theme this year was Alice in Wonderland, which provided an array of different colourful characters! This was an excellent opportunity for the Pill youth group to work with University students and learn new skills.
Anne-Marie Hodder and Emily McCarthy are fashion students at the University of Wales, Newport and have been involved in a number of First Campus fashion projects this year. Working with youngsters as part of the summer club timetable Anne-Marie and Emily delivered workshops on fashion design; this helped the young people to come up with ideas for carnival costumes.
