Image of Easter Animation and Songwriting Workshops

Twenty seven young people, aged 10 – 17 years, attended a four day Animation workshop at Treforest, run by Turnip Starfish, where they worked individually to create a short animated film each.  The younger cohort, aged 10 – 12 years, worked with clay and puppetry whilst the older cohort worked with more traditional stop motion armatures, hand drawn animation and puppetry.  Participants developed their storytelling skills creating storyboards and storylines and developed their painting techniques creating backdrops.

Twelve participants, aged 14 – 16 years, attended a four day Songwriting workshop in ATRiuM, run by WAM Music Wales.  Participants were involved in workshops on song structure, lyrics and how to write a good lyric, harmony and melody, musical genres and composition.  They worked in two groups of 6 to write and compose two original songs each.
