Year 8 pupils from Fitzalan and Cyfarthfa secondary schools visited Allt Yr Yn Campus  for the event in February when University tutors from Italy, Spain, India and China ran workshops that introduced the pupils to some of the language basics, the foods of the country (with lots of samples to try) and the different religious and cultural festivals that take place. Pupils then transformed the room into the country by decorating with flags, costume, posters, foods, and designs. Teachers commented that it was good for the pupils to “broaden their horizons with events like this”, while pupils were pleased that they had discovered new foods and had changed the way they perceived different cultures and traditions. Eight more schools are due to attend the event in March and April. |
