Supported by First Campus, Blaenau Gwent Athletics Club is an initiative to establish and develop an athletics training facility for people at all levels of ability aged 8 upwards.  Within the first four week trial period over 80 people have signed up and regularly attend the club which is based in Brynmawr.

Olympic Silver Medallist Jamie Baulch joined local dignitaries at the launch on 14th May.  The facility also hosts an on site club house at which enterprising parents have been supported to establish and run a club café.  The club offers a range of athletic disciplines and welcomes new members.

Paul Griffiths, First Campus Coordinator, said that the project demonstrates excellent collaborative arrangements to support community engagement.  The initiative draws on local resources to deliver active living for all ages.
