Hands on Science Main Event 28th & 29th June
The Hands on Science Main Event will be taking place on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th June a the National Museum, Cardiff.
300 Year 10 pupils from 10 schools across South East Wales will be
attending the event which aims to raise their awareness of Science,
Maths and Health subjects they can study at University and related
careers.
The pupils will be attending workshops including aerospace engineering,
dentistry, psychology and astronomy, as well as having the opportunity
to talk to staff from Careers Wales and local Sixth Form college about
the options available to them.There will be two guest speakers over the two days: Wendy Saddler from Science Made Simple and Professor Mike Edmunds from he school of Physics and Astronomy at Cardiff University. Wendy will be looking at the Science of Sport while Professor Edmunds will be asking the question - Is time travel possible?
The day will be rounded off by a session on the recent award winning film 'An Inconvenient Truth' which will get the pupils to think about one of the most pressing topic in modern science - climate change and sustainability, this will be presented by Museum Education Officer Danielle Cowell.
