| First Campus Hosts Children's University Awards Ceremony |

Over 150 pupils from across Blaenau-Gwent, Torfaen, Newport and Monmouthshire gathered at the University of Wales, Newport on 11th October for the Children’s University Awards Ceremony. The children received bronze, silver or gold medals according to the level of credit they had gained in extra-curricular activities throughout 2009/2010. The children walked across the hall in front of their proud parents, just as they would in a real graduation ceremony. They received a medal from Brett Pugh  (Chair of the South East Wales Consortium (SEWC) Directors Group and a certificate presented by Catherine Weaver of Monmouthshire Children’s University. The evening was compered by John Davidson who comperes the University’s graduation ceremonies. Monmouthshire Youth Dance performed at the start of the evening and Bling GAMELAN provided some musical entertainment at the end. It was a fabulous evening celebrating the achievement of school children from the local area! |
