First Campus and the Children's University
The First Campus partnership works with the Children’s University in a number of local authorities in the South East Wales region to enhance and accredit ‘out of school activities’ for young people.

First Campus hubs work with the Local Education Authority’s Children’s University in its catchment area to respond to its needs; First Campus currently provide specific activity modules for ‘out of school activities’ and HEIs within the partnership host the Children’s University ‘Graduation Ceremonies’ for those who will be receiving awards.  To date First Campus works with the Children’s University in Cardiff, Rhondda-Cynon-Taff, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, and are currently negotiating with Monmouthshire.

What is the Children’s University?

The Children's University (CU) awards credits to young people who attend learning activities out of school hours. The CU began in Birmingham in the early 1990s as an organisation designed to 'create a platform upon which young people could recognise and explore their potential as learners'. CU operates outside school hours meaning young people attend activities entirely by choice.

The Children's University operates across three age ranges:
Kid's College (School Years 1 - 3)
Children's University (School Years 4 - 8)
Youth University (School Years 9 - 13)
