Tornado Films and the First Campus Reaching Wider partnership are proud to announce the World Premiere of their new feature film production- ‘Summertime- An Original Film Musical’ at the Seafront Apollo Cinema, Aberavon this month.

‘Summertime’ is a remarkable achievement: aside from being a wholly original British film musical intended for an international market (UK release April/May 2011), it is the first and only feature film musical ever to come out of Wales! It has been produced, shot and funded entirely within Wales from a unique collaboration between Tornado Films, First Campus (S.E. Wales Reaching Wider partnership), Neath Port Talbot County Council, Blaenau Gwent and Bridgend County Borough Councils. Without them, and without the vital support of private investment from individuals within the Welsh business sector, this film would not have been possible.

This has been one of the most innovative partnerships Wales has ever seen bringing together Local Government, The Community, Industry and Education.  Along the way, the project has discovered some genuinely new talent, it has involved over 2800 young people and has pushed the limits of digital-film technology- all to realise a truly ambitious end-product. After almost two years since its inception, and with the recent support of Apollo Cinemas (and their digital partners at Sony, Bridgend), ‘Summertime’ is at last ready for its first screening.
