Over 1000 school children from across South Wales are taking part in a celebration of literature at the University of Glamorgan this week.
Organised by First Campus, in association with the University and the Guardian Hay Festival, the ‘Glamlit’ festival is a two day event held at the University’s Treforest campus and aims to engage children in home grown literature by introducing them to some of the UK’s best known authors.

The First Campus Year 9 Residential Summer School is held at UWIC each year in July. The four-day programme is designed to give pupils the opportunity to live the life of a student, experiencing the educational and social sides of life on campus.

What can we do as parent to improve the links between parents and teachers and the school? The ownership belongs to us, yet sometimes we see it as the place that has the kids between 9 and 3. 350 primary school children from across Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend visited the University of Glamorgan to take part in a series of workshops including circus skills, card making and a visit to the University’s planetarium, as part of the ‘Primary Carousel’.

Children in Care Taster Carousel - 8th May 2007
15 children in care are coming into the university to partake in a carousel of events including Music Technology, Forensic Science and Storytelling as an introduction to university life.
There will be student couriers on hand to transport them to their activities and take them on a 30 minute campus tour before lunch.

Accredited by the Childrens University, 18 pupils from Glyn Coch community centre are taking part in an animation after school club designed to enable pupils to experience what it’s like to create 2D Animation like Bugs Bunny or try their hand at Traditional Cut-Out Animation like South Park.
