Call to young bands

First Campus are holding auditions at the University of Glamorgan’s ATRiuM campus in Cardiff, where two bands will be selected to take part in a two week Music Technology Summer School.  The chosen bands will benefit from the advice and experience of well know producers Tony Platt and Greg Haver.

Tony Platt has worked with the likes of AC/DC, Bob Marley and Iron Maiden.  Greg Haver has built up a reputation within the Welsh music community for his diverse production skills and innovative arrangements with artists such as Super Furry Animals, Catatonia, Lost Prophets and Bullet For My Valentine.

To enter the competition for a place, band members must be between the ages of 14 and 16 and want to produce their own music. Auditions will be held at the ATRiuM on Saturday 12th July.

The chosen band will spend two weeks at the ATRiuM’s recording studios (20th July – 31st July) working with professional musicians and university lecturers.

Kath Maddy, First Campus Manager, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people wanting to work with some of the best technology and experts in the creative industries. It’s a unique experience and I look forward to seeing the entries.”
