First Campus Animation Workshop

First Campus  played host to 20 pupils from Aberdare Girls’ School who made a film using puppets. 

Jane Ellis, First Campus Coordinator at the University of Glamorgan, noticed how well the young people had worked under pressure.  “The group only had two days to choose a theme, plan a storyline, create the puppets and make the film.  This included editing and producing a soundtrack.  It was a huge challenge, but they pulled it off, and the final production is very impressive.”

The event calls for teamwork and creativity, and gives the young people involved an insight into the huge amount of work behind any media production. 

The pupils chose celebrity TV shows as their theme and their animation featured carefully crafted puppets of the stars.  Watch the clip to see how many you can recognise!
